...The Missoula Avalanche Center Missoula MT has issued a
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WATCH...

* WHAT...Avalanche danger will rise today as a strong winter storm
impacts the area. Avalanche danger could reach high by early
Monday morning.

* WHERE...On and below steep slopes at middle and upper elevations
in the southern Swan range, southern Missions, Rattlesnake
mountains, and the Bitterroot mountains from Lolo Pass to Lost
Trail Pass.

* WHEN...In effect from Sunday, February 25, 2024 615 AM MST to
Monday, February 26, 2024 615 AM MST.

* IMPACTS...Heavy snow and strong winds will create dangerous
avalanche conditions and widespread areas of unstable snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Very dangerous avalanche conditions. Travel on avalanche terrains
is not recommended. Avalanches may run long distances and can run
into mature forests, valley floors, or flat terrain.
